The Night of my life

On the sixteenth of February I was lucky enough to have tickets to go and see Shayne Ward in concert. I went with two friends from the Tower Project, Soo and Jan.

Soo and Jan picked me up from home in the mini bus at about 4-30pm, it took quite a bit of time to get there as there was a lot of traffic.

I was looking forward to going and got quite excited. The crowd was very loud.

The concert was at Wembley Stadium and our seats were in a good position they were in the middle so we had a good view.

The stadium was packed but we were near the front so it didn't matter.

There were four warm up acts before Shayne came on and I was not that keen on any of them, so I pretended to be asleep.

It started at 7-30pm.
He sang all of my favourite songs and it was fantastic.

I didn't get home until midnight because he sang so many songs.

It was the most fantastic night ever.

John Constable (1776-1837)

John Constable was a famous English painter who was born on the 11 June 1776 in East Bergholt, Suffolk.
He is best known for his landscape paintings
of Dedham Vale. This and the surrounding
area is now known as "Constable Country."
His most famous paintings were Dedham Vale,
which he painted in 1802 and The Hay Wain which was painted in 1821.
It was only after his death an 31th march 1837 that he became famous. Most of his paintings were sold in France and he is now known as one of the most famous painters of our time.
He was accepted into the Royal Academy at the age of 52.
His father Golding was a wealthy corn merchant and had his own mill, Flatford Mill in East Bergholt and later Dedham Mill.
He also owned his own small ship which was
named the Telegraph this was moored at Mistley on the Stour Estuary. Golding used the ship to transport corn to London.

John went to Dedham Grammar School and then later to work with his father. He hated it and begged his father to send him to the Royal Academy in London to study art.

John was the middle son, of three boys. He had three sisters. His elder brother Golding was disabled while his younger brother went on to take over the business from his father.

While still quite young Constable was introduced to George Beaumont, (a collector) who showed him his prized Hagar and the Angel by Claude Lorrain, this inspired Constable.
Later John was to meet the professional artist John Thomas Smith, who advised him to stay at his father's business and only follow his beloved art as a hobby.

In 1799 constable persuaded his father to let him study art. He entered the Royal Academy, and went to life classes and copied old masters. Constable also read a lot of poetry and sermons. By 1803, he was showing his work at the Royal Academy.

In 1802 Constable decided that he wanted to be a professional landscape painter. He usually painted scenes of every day life.
It was in 1803, John was to spend nearly a month aboard the East Indiaman ship Coutts, visiting and painting South-East coastal ports.
In 1806 Constable spent two months in the Lake District, there he painted more romantic images. He felt really isolated here and was more happy painting villages, farmhouses, churches and cottages. Constable struggled to make money through his rural paintings, and so turned to painting portraits. He did not enjoy this work, and found it dull.
In 1811 Constable visited Salisbury, where he was inspired by the city's Cathedral. This would become the focus of some of his great paintings.
From 1809 onwards his childhood friendship with Maria Bicknell developed into deep mutual love, their engagement in 1816 was opposed by Maria's grandfather Dr Rhudde. (Rector of East Berholt) He actually declared that Maria would be disinherited.
Maria's father (Charles Bicknell) was reluctant for this to happen.
John's parents, Golding and Ann approved of the match, but had no intention of supporting the marriage financially.
John's parents died in quick concession and John inherited a fifth share in the family business.
John and Maria's marriage in October 1816 was followed by a honeymoon tour of the South coast where the sea at Weymouth and Brighton stimulated John to develop new techniques of brilliant colour and vivacious brush work.
Scraping an income from his art, it wasn't until 1819 that John sold his first canvas.(The White Horse)This led to a series of 'six footers' which is what he called his large scale paintings.
After the birth of their seventh child in January 1828, Maria fell ill and died of tuberculosis in November of the same year, at the age of 41. After her death, John always dressed in black and cared for his seven children alone for the rest of his life.
He was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy and in 1821 he was to have an exhibition held at the Academy which showed 'The Hay Wain.' It was here that Theodore Gericault was amazed by the painting and went on to praise Constable in Paris. In Paris a dealer John Arrowsmith bought 4 paintings,1 being The Hay Wain. They were exhibited in Paris Salon in 1824, winning a gold medal.
John sold 20 paintings in England. But sold more than 20 in Paris.
In 1825 under a lot of pressure from both family and professional ties, John lost his French outlet.
John died on the night of 31st march 1837 from Indigestion and was buried with Maria in the graveyard of St-John at Hampstead. His children John Charles Constable and Charles Goin Constable were also buried in the family grave.
John Constable the master of landscape painting in the romantic style.

IOYOU didn't meet up to Simon Cowell's strict criteria and was refused a record contract with BMG. Changes had to be made if the band was to continue. Two of the boys, Derrick Lacey and Graham Keighron were given the sack. Auditions were then held in Dublin to find replacements. The band then recruited Nicky Bryne and Brian McFadden. Then a third member of the group was dropped, Michael Garret. The group was renamed 'Westside', but as this name was already used, it was decided their name shoul be 'Westlife'. Ronan Keating joined forces with Louis Walsh, to become co-manager of the group.
